Soil improvement: waterproof membranes

Geomembranes are used in a host of well-established applications, including mining and reservoirs. In mining, the waterproof membrane typically ensures that contaminated water is contained – and does not leach into the surrounding environment. In reservoirs, it helps to retain as much water as possible. Emerging industries also create new uses for this type of membrane – such as a recent example involving a district heating system.
